Regular readers of this section of Bird Observer undoubtedly suspect that the author has an anal personality. In my defense, however, I would suggest that this picture is a classic reminder not to shoot the messenger. Please note that I did not take the photograph. Not unlike several of John Kricher’s previous outstanding photographic contributions, the view of this issue’s mystery bird is hardly obvious. It has all the hallmarks of a challenging identification photograph.
