Weather

The weather highlight for September was the report confirmed by the National Weather Service that as many as five tornados touched down in central Massachusetts during an intensive thunderstorm on September 6. The towns of Holden and Paxton experienced the most damage with some flooding and lots of tree damage. A brief tornado was also confirmed in nearby Stow and Berlin. Tornados are rare in Massachusetts, the last tornado to strike us was in Rehoboth in June 2024. September started out warm with a high for the month of 84 degrees on September 6, which was followed by nearly two weeks of average or below average temperatures, with a few days in the 80s at the end of the month. Rainfall totaled 3.09 inches, nearly average for September.
